Dior and I
Watching this documentary, you really cannot help but fall in love all over again with couture and its enchanting world. After all, it’s Christian Dior, and Dior is a name regarded with utmost esteem. In this movie, they show the creation of Raf Simons’ first haute couture collection. Featuring the seamstresses who have been at the house of Dior for 42 years, more floral blooms than you could ever imagine, and some tears – shed by Raf – too, it’s a glamorous, pressure-filled ride.
Valentino: The Last Emperor
For all those who are Valentino-obsessed – like us – seeing Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti in Paris, Rome and Venice as they prepare for the 2006 Spring/Summer Collection is seriously enthralling. As a designer who dressed Jacqueline Kennedy, received the French Legion of Honor medal and consistently produced phenomenal collections, we couldn’t get enough of this behind-the-scenes view. The most endearing moments of the film were Valentino’s comments on beauty and how he can’t help it but create more in the world. Now, we adore Valentino all the more!
